Oh, Neopets Day. Why hast thou forsaken me?
So, at exactly 12:00 am NST, I decided to do my dailies. I then realized that after over a month of diligently visiting the Planet 51 sponsor activity, I missed day 42. Yesterday. If I had gone just a MINUTE earlier, I would have gotten it no problem. Now I'm screwed for the jackpot. D:
AND THEN! I went to Toys R Us and purchased the three pack of Royal neopets plushies. I got books out of all three. I decided to REALLY QUICKLY OMG read them to my Gelert so I wouldn't be tempted to sell them. And then I donated one... SO YAY PERSON WHO GOT A BOOK WORTH 80k! I BET YOU'RE HAPPY!
It's been such a bad week, but I can't help but find this funny. In the insane I'm-going-to-snap-and-stab-something way. xD But it's better than being pissed.
Has anybody else experienced this amazing it's-one-of-those-days-on-Neopets phenomenon? Or even better, has anything really GOOD happened to you lately? Tell me about those, too!

While it's not technically a barrier to roleplaying, characters who maintain a purposeless flat affect really bug me.
I'm not referring to purposefully emotionless characters or characters who don't reveal their emotional state, those can still have acknowledgment that they lack normal reactions or are talking in a dull monotone with frozen faces. But itt's infuriating to have a character talking with no indication of their movements, facial expression, or tone of voice. Unless they're passing notes via paper airplane or talking over IM there needs to be some kind of visual and/or audial description for them. If I can't tell if a character is amused, bored, upset, curious, or anything I don't know how to make my character react to them and besides that it's bloody dull to read.
This goes double if it's some sort of emotional situation/characterization where the character should definitely not be talking on a monotone with a blank expression on their face. And at least have them move once in a while? Smile, move your hands, take a bite of your delicious chili dog, unless they're paralyzed or have other reasons for staying still have them do something in the course of ten posts. Throw some description in your four sentences worth of post that will give me something to work with.

After seeing everyone here winning snorkle snouts from the wishing well, I decided to try my hand. And then today I logged in to see I'd won one! I couldn't believe it. I threw it into my trades-now if I can only get it sold, I can break 2 mill for the first time ever and officially commence with my "1/5 of the way to a draik egg" dance!
So yeah, apparently this community is good luck. :)

I decided to be nice and gift a few random things out of kindness to some people I'd been chatting with on the boards earlier today. Nothing expensive, some cute and quirky things. I never said it was going to be anything ~amazing~, just some cute stuff I had lying around. So I sent the items, then left to go out for the day.
I get home and what do I see? Someone rejected the item and sent me a neomail about how they were insulted that I only gave them an item worth a paltry few hundred NP. WTF were they expecting?!
Taking a deep breath. Trying to control my rage. How...snotty. I'll stick to giveaways here from now on :|

We went through lengths to try and get you settled in and RPing. You promptly don't RP with anyone but your buddy. Then have the gall to imply you're being excluded on purpose which alo sets your buddy off.
What the hell dude? We offered plot suggestions, we've been nothing but helpful! We're all busy and have between 6 and 14 characters to hold up, that's a lot of work and we love it. This is also why we get lots of RPing done. Having two characters, one of which you hardly play because you can't find the muse for him and the other one in a remote isolated location where not many people pass you by (being in the middle of the OCEAN AND ALL) does not help!
Then your passive aggressive bullshit and whimpering on the chatroom, trying to push a new character on people. People who have alreadty said they're too busy to take on your character.
Whining if after, OH NOES! A WEEK -- no one has picked up the character for you. A WEEK! A GODDAMN WEEK! I've been waiting to get a son for my character played since friggin' APRIL! Suck it up and take it like a boyscout will you?
And for fuck's sake your character is boring and bland to the point where the most interesting thing about him is that he has an outfit similar to FF8's Squall! Nevermind that this game has NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH THAT FANDOM! And even though this is all painfully obvious to everyone and their blind grandmothers (seeing ones too) all you do is whine how we're all talking about OUR involved, active, played characters who are interacting with people and stuff, and YOU DON'T GET TO SHOW OF YOUR NEW TOY! WAAAA!
Of course, this whining doesn't reach us until your BUDDY TALKS TO US ABOUT IT! And now magicaly also feels neglected and left out despite playing one of the major canons. Way to go, you douchebag, can't go down without taking your buddy with you...?
Then to top it all off with a nice sugared cherry, you manage to piss off the admin by lecturing them on how you really tried to get in on the game and NO ONE SHOWED ANY INTEREST! Is also not going to earn you any brownie points okay? You're the only fucking person who has had this much plot thrown at them and this much chances to post and play and let all of them slide.
I'm getting the distinct feeling the problem lies not with the communty, but maybe we're just too self-involved to see just how hard you're trying. What with the bumping of you character request and all. That must take SO MUCH EFFORT! I SEE HOW YOU REALLY TRIED TO SHOVE YOUR CHARACTER DOWN PEOPLES THROATS! People ... who are busy.
And don't give us this "you don't seem busy, you're making caracters for other people." crap either. It's not up to you or anyone to decide how fucking busy someone is and whether or not they have time for another character in their line up! Especially a character from someone as high maintenance and whiney as you.
All caps lock fury aside. Not only are you a whiney simpering idiot who lacks the ability to actually start any action in RP, your passive aggressive behavior on the chatroom and the way in which you address and talk to people ("No one likes me so I'll just be an abbrassive asshole!") is not making you any friends either!
Okay... having gotten all that out of my system... time to confront the problem and talk some sense into the imbecile...

I have been playing Neopets off and on since 1999. I remember all the old art, I remember shops always/almost always being in stock, I remember cheap paintbrushes.
In all that time, I never once had a lab map.
And I am so close to getting my first one, I can taste it. I just need about 120k more. You better bet I am playing games like a fiend to get there. You better believe it.
I am in a weird mood today, so excuse my awe. :)

I'm posting here because (I hope) some of you will understand.
Anyway, I'm trying to save up for a Faerie Paint Brush. They're currently going for over 3mil and I have about half of that saved up. Now for my problem: I keep finding things I just have to buy. Two-for-one prices on usukis? Check! Good deal on the usukicon y11 background? Check! Good deals on hard-to-find usukis? Got 'em!
Now for my question: How do you stay strong and save up to your goal and not spend it all on the latest shiny thing to hit Neopets? Any tips are needed, as I'm perilously close to spending it all. *bites nails*

I have decided to sell a snorkle snout rather than using for the avatar, since I really want to get a halloween paintbrush.
It looks like snorkle snouts are going for 310-350k atm and I put mine up for 310k. Someone just offered me a bat kebab for it instead, which seems to go for 450-550k. Do you think I could turn around and sell it for like 400k, or are they really hard to sell?

I intended to write about this after it happened, but got caught up in other stuff, then forgot all about it when I made the first post today.
The thing of not so awesome was I prepared for 2 projects today: presentation of an assignment and a test... both of which have been delayed to monday =|
BUT THE AWESOME THING... needs some setting up.
So, my Interactive Writing Class, as most/many/all/a few/some/-4πi/64 of you know, is taught by Daniel Erickson, Lead writier for bioware Austin. But, as lead writer, he kind of has duties elsewhere as well. In this case, he had to go to SFO and Lucas Arts Entertainment (You know, since he's working on Star Wars Old Republic MMO). Anyway, when he's away, we get a sub, as often happens. But the cool thing is the sub happens to work for him.
Anyway, after class, I decided to talk to the sub about stuff like... what bioware writer's training was like, what it was like writing there, etc... and I mentioned that I was interested since... game writing was something I'd been considering for awhile now, and after the course I think I'd be able to do it... SOMEWHERE, just not at Bioware.
He told me not to sell my self short, and that Bioware's totally had loads of junior writers blossom into great writers... and when I asked if anyone from the ACC program had gotten in yet (since Daniel's taught this A few times now), he said no... but that might be because no one has asked him yet.
...I'd been thinking about asking him what he thought of my chances in the last week or two of class.
...I guess it's good to know my chances are a lot greater than 0%! \o/

Why do you think so hard about projects that will almost certainly NEVER BE.
I've already laid out a basic level design for one of those questy things, if I did one =| And I already know the basic plot, the major twist, etc... and I'm considering figuring out what rooms connect to what rooms (without putting anything in them, just doorways, stairs, tunnels, etc...)
...Silly brain. The project just wouldn't be all that good if I did art/without art, and it just wouldn't be as fun if someone else did the art, thereby removing them from the game =(

Okay look. I get that you guys want to be neutral with all the other villages. That's cool.
But if you want to be actually neutral and not 'that place that thinks they're neutral,' maybe you could, yano, stop harboring criminals from other villages. And in one memorable case, making another village's Public Enemy No. 1 your leader.
Just kind of blows the whole 'neutral' thing right out the window, you know? As it is I nearly start laughing whenever one of you lot try to pull that.

I've noticed that as time has passed, I've been growing more and more fond of writing. I've tried drawing and 3D graphics, but it just doesn't sit as well for me as writing does. I love storytelling and occasionally giving a detailed message amongst the plot. Like all talents and arts though, this requires me keep on practicing and go beyond just written role-plays. With Christmas coming up and me being particularly (see: Very) poor, I think I have a neat idea for presents!
Christmas Drabble
If anyone on my friend's list like a a Christmas card, not only will I send a Christmas card, but a small 1-2 page drabble/short story. :3 Just put your name, Address and a simple prompt of one or two words and I'll get to work on it right away. I won't do any fandom related prompts, (mostly because I don't want to fail miserably from not knowing it) so any other prompts will be good. All comments will be screened and if you have any questions, I'll be sure to answer them. ^^
